Pull-Out

The Pull-Out is a small quarried area just down from the summit. When driving south from the summit, park before Dog Rocks in a wide spot on the left (about 1km from the summit) and walk uphill on the right across quarried blocks and vegetation for about 5 minutes - it is very close to the road. The Pull-Out consists of a mixture of slabs and aretes in an old quarry. On a large block to the left of the bouldering area lie three chiselled and bolted routes (up to grade 28) courtesy of Matt Brooks. The problems are on two tiers.

1. V1
Left-hand arete.

2. V3 (with crack) or V4 (without crack)
Up centre of wall without either arete.

3. V2
Right-hand arete.

4. V3
Climb to hole in the slab, step left and finish direct.

5. V4
Climb to hole in the slab and then continue direct to the top.

6. V5
Use the sloppy sidepulls (not the hole) and climb direct to the top.

7. V1
Climb the line of drill holes.

8. V0
Slab right of the drill holes.

9. Charlie's Arete V2
Climb the beautiful arete on the right-hand side. A bit scary. FA: Charlie Crease

10. Charlie's Wall V3
Climb the wall just right of the arete via a big move from the large undercut up to a thin break. Top out.

11. Superfly V10
This is deceptively difficult. A very short problem. Use the positive holds on the arete to reach the obvious ledge - do not jump from the ground as this makes it about V3! Stand start. FA: Simon Weill.

11a. MaDMAn goes to Heartbeat City V3
Climb the wall right of superfly. Named in memory of the legend Dave Pegg. FA: Peter Reynolds.

12. You are the Quarry V9
A technical climb that doesn't ease until the very top. Climb the beautiful arete and top out. Stand start. FA: Pete Reynolds.

13. Attack V4
At the far left of the top tier is a an overhanging traverse. Start from sitting and follow the line.
FA: Pete Reynolds.

The following two problems are in the area near the bolted routes:

1. Definitely Maybe V0
Left arete. FA: Pete Reynolds.

2. Morning Glory V3
Climb the arete without the left-hand side wall. FA: Pete Reynolds.

Outside the Pullout
This problem is on the outcrop on the horizon on the right as you walk up to the Pullout - about 5 minutes walk.

Looks can be deceiving V3
Stand start and head up the vague arete.
